All of the Official official pines pines the square hooded sweat 2023 shirt besides I will buy this furniture in “Denim” is both imaginative and functional—albeit sometimes a little absurd. With the pieces he’s designed, Nuriev has assembled a home gym of sorts, complete with jean hand weights, a weight bench, a pull-up bar, and a yoga mat. Then, there’s a living room with a DJ booth that, yes, plays music. (Why the DJ booth? “I just play around with modern needs,” he says. “I want to have a DJ booth in my living room—or my kitchen, because I cook less and Uber Eats more.”) Photo: Benjamin BaccaraniThat’s not the only “modern need” Nuriev’s designs cater to. Carefully placed on Nuriev’s sprawling modular couch (which, depending on one’s preference, could be in the traditional shape of an L or the more unexpected shape of a conversation pit) are electronic amenities galore: USB ports for charging photos and even an iPad station, where Seamless is queued up so you can order without even getting up. Other pieces further highlight our tech-addled reality of living: The vanity table, for example, comes with a brick to prop up a computer for Zoom calls. “In the same way that you layer your jeans, T-shirts, and jackets in the order you want, I want my furniture to adapt and shape itself according to the user’s wishes,” he says.

Nuriev also pays homage to denim’s most familiar form, with some of his pieces showing intentional rips or distressed details. Then there are his shelves—which aren’t really shelves at all. Instead, they’re giant pockets you hang on your walls and stuff with, well, stuff. (Nuriev explains their necessity with the Official official pines pines the square hooded sweat 2023 shirt besides I will buy this utmost logic: “You know, for when your friends come over and you need to clean up really quickly.”) Photo: Benjamin BaccaraniAt the end of the day, Nuriev says “Denim is a love letter to just that. “It’s very unique,” he explains. “It gets old with you, and as you wear it during so many different life situations. When you have things like this—it’s beautiful.” My interest in immersive bathrooms was ignited early on. Having been raised along the central coast of California, visits to the historic Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo were commonplace when I was growing up (particularly for adolescent milestones like prom night dinner, where I was known to order a virgin piña colada or two). A late 1950s-era hotel, the property is fawned over on Instagram for its flamboyant interiors of unapologetic pink and gold—but the main attraction isn’t the 110 individually-themed rooms or the 1,000 sprawling acres of rocky terrain it sits upon. Instead, it’s the bathroom; the men’s bathroom, to be more precise. Upon entering, one is greeted by giant clam shell sinks and large natural stone boulders, which enclose a motion-activated waterfall urinal. (A grotto garderobe, if you will.) It’s outlandish and it’s brilliant. For those like me who consider an immersive bathroom experience something worth traveling for, sneaking into the Madonna Inn men’s washroom is a pilgrimage.
